"What if I exclude national teams? Then the Cup first went to a non-NHL team on January 6, 1986 when the Boston Bruins, fresh off a 4-0 win over Buffalo to take the unofficial title,"
See, we have on the Cup before! Suck it Habs fans!!!!!! |

the question becomes, who's got the most games played with the title per total games? |

Who has held the title for the longest streak?
Which modern conference/division has held it for the most games? (East of course not getting to hold it at all this season hurts them, so maybe exclude this season) |

Chip McCleary: All Hail Columbus, the (Unofficial) Cup Champions! - Chip McCleary
Yeah not happening, Howson screwed us over .......
as per the dispatch
Hired this week to join the Edmonton Oilers’ front office, Howson appears to have left the Blue Jackets in pretty good shape. But he might have a parting shot, too. An NHL rule change adopted three seasons ago after Howson introduced it to the league’s Board of Governors could end up costing the Blue Jackets a spot in the postseason.
The “Howson Rule” altered the postseason tiebreaking process, making a team’s number of regulation and overtime victories the first tiebreaker. In other words, shootout victories would be removed from the total.

If the leafs blow the last five games of the season that rule could end up saving us, haha. |

Chips a good dude, I think you guys give him a lot of flack when he does good hockey work. I think us Flyers fans are spoiled on here with Bill Meltzer, but I think Chip is a good hockey mind. Just a shame he doesn't blog as much about the BNotes as he does about random (yet interesting) hockey things. Even the Blues draft recap, very intriguing and thought provoking, it was Blues oriented, but leaves a lot to be desired in terms of this current Blues team. |

Columbus didn't know that's how tiebreakers work now? LOL. Guess they haven't sniffed the playoffs since 09...so it makes sense.

There's only so many times you can type the words. "Need to win battles along boards", "Need to find back of net", ect.. I enjoy his 'other' articles, don't need a GDT to tell me we have a game and what the teams doing good/bad, and what's up with our opponnent. |
